Seminar titled “Raising Awareness on Preventing Cyberbullying Among Students” was held at Secondary School No.12 named after L. V. Tolstunov in Bishkek. The event was organized within the framework of social responsibility projects of the Faculty of Communication at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.
The seminar was prepared by third-year Journalism students Asylai Toroeva and Altynai Dosubekova under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyazi Ayhan. The event was conducted with the support of school principal Gulbarchyn Umetalieva.
The seminar was organized as a practical outcome of the scientific research project titled “Digital Transformation and Cyberbullying in Education: Evaluation of Children in Kyrgyzstan.” The research was conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyazi Ayhan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdogan Akman, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Topchugul Narmamatova.
During the seminar, students were informed about types of cyberbullying, digital safety rules, and protection methods against online aggression. The “Stop — Block — Report” algorithm was also introduced, along with practical recommendations for safe internet use.
Such initiatives contribute to improving students’ digital literacy and creating a safer online environment.
