Sustainable Development and ESG Principles Discussed at the Faculty of Communication


A seminar titled “Sustainable Development and ESG Principles” was conducted by Kanıshay Muktarova, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at the Faculty of Communication. The seminar aimed to enhance the knowledge of faculty members and students on sustainable development, environmental responsibility, and corporate governance. During the event held within the faculty, the growing importance of the concept of sustainable development in today’s world and the responsibilities assumed by institutions in this process were discussed.

During the seminar, participants were informed about the emergence of the concept of sustainable development, its fundamental principles, and its areas of implementation within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Particular attention was also paid to the role and increasing importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles, which cover environmental, social, and governance dimensions, within the modern understanding of corporate governance. It was emphasized that institutions must consider environmental responsibility, social benefit, and principles of transparent governance when developing their sustainability policies.

Within the scope of the seminar, information was also shared about the activities carried out by international and regional organizations working in the field of sustainability. In this context, the activities of the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research (CAIER), the Sh. Walikhanov Private Secondary School, and the Chamber of Independent Directors of the Kyrgyz Republic in the fields of sustainable development and corporate governance were introduced to the participants.
