As the Department of Industrial Engineering, we are delighted to share the academic work and knowledge of our faculty members with our students and the academic community. In this context, on Friday, May 30, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahar Özyörük, one of our faculty members, gave a seminar titled "Renewable Energy and Biomass Waste Management."
The seminar was held in room MFFB-128, the “Modeling, Optimization, and Simulation Laboratory” of our department. In her presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özyörük focused on renewable energy sources and biomass waste management, which are among today's important topics. In line with increasing energy demands and environmental sustainability goals, the role of biomass in energy production and waste valorization was discussed in detail. The seminar covered different types of biomass, energy conversion technologies (e.g., biomethanization, gasification, pyrolysis), and the environmental and economic impacts of these processes. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özyörük also shared information about the challenges encountered in biomass waste management, integrated waste management systems, and future trends in this field. Attendees had the opportunity to gain insights into current approaches and sustainability solutions in the use of renewable energy sources and effective waste management.
We extend our thanks to all academics and students who attended the seminar. We hope that such events will continue to contribute to our knowledge base and academic development.
