Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) is proud to announce the commencement of student admissions for its newly established Faculty of Medicine, which will welcome its first students in the 2025–2026 academic year. This launch marks a strategically significant milestone not only for the University but also for Kyrgyzstan and the broader Turkic world.
The foundation of the Faculty of Medicine was laid during the official visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Kyrgyzstan on September 2, 2018, with a groundbreaking ceremony held in Bishkek. Initiated under President Erdoğan’s directives, the establishment process was completed following official approvals from the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. This achievement was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, with the support of the then Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Altun, and members of the Board of Trustees.
Following its official establishment, the Faculty devoted its effort to developing both its physical infrastructure and academic foundations. Major progress was made in areas such as licensing, curriculum development, and institutional collaboration. Thanks to the continued efforts of the university administration and the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İbrahim Çapak, along with Board members, the Faculty of Medicine will officially begin accepting prospective students in 2025.
As part of this significant advancement, on June 18, 2025, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University and the University of Health Sciences signed an International Joint Undergraduate Program Protocol in the field of medicine. The signing ceremony took place at the historic Mekteb-i Tıbbiyye-i Şahane campus in Istanbul. The protocol was signed by KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan and University of Health Sciences Rector Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Aydın.
Under this joint program, students will complete the first three years of their medical education at KTMU and the final three years of clinical training at the University of Health Sciences. The language of instruction will be Turkish and Kyrgyz, and the program will grant dual diplomas to successful graduates.
The KTMU Faculty of Medicine is committed to enhancing the quality of medical education in Kyrgyzstan by fostering an academic model rooted in ethical values, scientific approach, and cultural awareness. This collaboration with the University of Health Sciences is expected to further the vision of a shared higher education space across the Turkic World.
We extend our sincere gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan; the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic; the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye; past and present Chairmen and members of the Board of Trustees; Rector Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Aydın and the team at the University of Health Sciences; and all contributors to the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and the launch of student admissions.
We hope that the Faculty of Medicine at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University will bring lasting benefits and play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare education in the region.
