On the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the passing of the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at Atatürk Park in Bishkek, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Bishkek.
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Bishkek Mekin Mustafa Kemal Ökem, Embassy counsellors and staff, Deputy Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. İsmet Altıntaş and Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov, Secretary-General Dr. Fatih Ramazan İstanbullugil, university administrators and students, teachers and students from schools affiliated with the Turkish Educational Counsellor’s Office in Bishkek, representatives of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Representation in Bishkek, the Chief Physician’s Office of the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Bishkek Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), the Turkish-Kyrgyz Businessmen Association (TÜKİD), the Maarif Foundation, and the Association of Ahıska Turks in Kyrgyzstan, as well as members of the press.
The ceremony began with the laying of wreaths at the Atatürk Monument. First, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Bishkek Mekin Mustafa Kemal Ökem laid a wreath on behalf of the Embassy and observed a moment of respect. Subsequently, representatives from the TRNC Bishkek Representation, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Rectorate, the Chief Physician’s Office of the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Bishkek Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, the Turkish-Kyrgyz Businessmen Association, the Maarif Foundation, and the Association of Ahıska Turks in Kyrgyzstan each laid their wreaths.
With the sound of sirens, a two-minute moment of silence was observed in memory of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the heroic martyrs, followed by the singing of the Turkish National Anthem.
After the ceremony, Ambassador Ökem delivered a speech expressing deep respect and gratitude for the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Ambassador Ökem stated: “Today is November 10, the 87th anniversary of the passing of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The Great Atatürk will always be with us through his ideals, thoughts, and the values he bestowed upon us. We must aim for a Türkiye that constantly develops and renews itself on the path he paved toward contemporary civilization.” Touching on the importance of Atatürk’s reforms, Ambassador Ökem said: “As we commemorate Atatürk, we must understand the military and political genius he displayed under difficult circumstances, his reforms, and his efforts to leave behind a modern country, while remaining patriotic, honest, hardworking, and goal-oriented generations.”
Emphasizing Atatürk’s focus on language, history, and culture, Ambassador Ökem continued: “Mustafa Kemal Atatürk secured the future of our nation by establishing the Turkish Language and History Institutions in the early years of the Republic. Under his leadership, a great development initiative was launched to build a self-sufficient country in every field. We will continue to advance in line with Atatürk’s vision by excelling in science, technology, culture, and the arts.” Ambassador Ökem concluded his remarks by saying: “We commemorate the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our martyrs, and our veterans who have passed away with mercy, gratitude, and respect.”
