Dean Aygün: Agricultural Independence and Sustainable Production Hold Strategic Importance for Kyrgyzstan
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Aygün, drew attention to the significance and historical memory represented by the “Colors of Kyrgyz Agriculture” photo exhibition. Emphasizing the importance of continuity in agricultural production from past to present, Dean Aygün stated that the 66 photographs displayed in the exhibition serve as important documents reflecting Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural heritage and production culture.
Prof. Dr. Aygün noted that, following the centralized agricultural policies implemented during the Soviet era, agricultural independence has become a strategic necessity for the Turkic Republics that gained independence afterward. He stated that a country’s self-sufficiency is only possible through a strong agricultural infrastructure.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Aygün underlined the major responsibilities awaiting young agricultural engineers, stating that future agricultural engineers will play a critical role in helping Kyrgyzstan achieve a strong and sustainable agricultural structure free from external dependence. Stressing the importance of qualified human resources in increasing production capacity and meeting the country’s agricultural needs through domestic means, Prof. Dr. Aygün said: “Advancing Kyrgyzstan’s agriculture to a stronger level, building a self-sufficient production structure, and utilizing the country’s agricultural potential in the most efficient way possible will be achievable through the knowledge, expertise, and dedication of you young engineer candidates. You are the generation that will shape the country’s agricultural development.”
