KTMU Faculty of Communication Contributes Academic Expertise to the 6th World Nomad Games
Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) continues to apply its academic expertise to major international events. Faculty members from the Faculty of Communication served as expert advisors during the 6th World Nomad Games, held in the Issyk-Kul region from September 1–6, 2026, contributing to cultural program design, event coordination, and media outreach.
Hosted in the city of Cholpon-Ata and the Kyrchyn Gorge, the World Nomad Games serve as a prominent global platform celebrating traditional sports alongside the cultural heritage, arts, lifestyle, and shared values of nomadic peoples. The participation of KTMU faculty highlights how the university translates its academic knowledge into meaningful cultural, communicative, and public contributions.
Academic Expertise Translates to International Reach
The Faculty of Communication provided professional media and communications strategy to ensure wide coverage of the event. Dr. Marat Ergeshov, a faculty member in the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, oversaw media promotion efforts. His work focused on enhancing the event's public visibility, representing the cultural programming effectively across media platforms, and communicating the core values of the Games to a global audience.
Additionally, KTMU faculty member Stambulbek Mambetaliev was responsible for organizing and coordinating the national cultural program. Mambetaliev managed the integration of traditional heritage elements into a cohesive program structure while overseeing logistics across event stages.
Preserving Cultural Memory Through Photography
Fahri Tarhan, a visual communications specialist at the Faculty of Communication, led efforts to document the event's cultural activities for a forthcoming exhibition. Working as a professional photographer, Tarhan captured the traditional lifeways, cultural performances, and distinct atmosphere of the Kyrchyn Gorge, creating a comprehensive visual archive of nomadic culture.
His photographic documentation will serve as a visual repository of the cultural heritage showcased at the Games, making it accessible to diverse audiences through upcoming public exhibitions.
University Leadership Reaffirms Commitment to Public Service
KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized the institution's commitment to connecting academic research with public service. He noted that involving KTMU faculty in high-profile international events like the World Nomad Games directly aligns with the university's mission to serve the community. Prof. Ceylan added that alongside teaching and research, KTMU prioritizes projects that advance the cultural development of Kyrgyzstan and the broader Turkic world, affirming that the university will continue to engage in high-impact national and international initiatives.
