A consultative meeting was held between the Faculty of Communication and the Faculty of Theology at Kırgızistan-Türkiye Manas Üniversitesi (KTMU) to discuss the implementation of minor and double major programs in line with the university’s quality assurance and academic diversity objectives.
During the meeting, the participants addressed the expansion of interdisciplinary education opportunities, the strengthening of students’ academic competencies, and the development of program diversity within the framework of institutional quality standards. Particular emphasis was placed on quality assurance systems in higher education, the alignment of program learning outcomes, the clear definition of learning achievements, and the enhancement of graduate competencies.
The discussion also highlighted the intersection of communication and theology as academic fields. It was proposed to establish a shared course pool focusing on themes such as media ethics, religion and communication, values education, cultural representation, the construction of religious discourse in the media, and social responsibility. In this context, it was emphasized that minor and double major programs would contribute to developing students’ multidimensional thinking skills and their ability to build analytical connections across different disciplines.
Furthermore, it was noted that these programs are aligned with the university’s strategic goals of internationalization, program diversification, and student-centered education. They are also expected to strengthen the institution’s capacity in key accreditation criteria, including the development of interdisciplinary education opportunities, the provision of flexible learning pathways, and the diversification of graduate qualifications.
