An online seminar titled “Publication Strategy in International Indexed Journals: Designing a High-Quality Article and Understanding the Logic of SSCI/Scopus” was organized by the Faculty of Communication at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University in order to raise awareness in the field of academic publishing and to enhance researchers’ knowledge and experience regarding the process of publishing in internationally indexed journals.
During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Ömer Alkan, a faculty member at Atatürk University and the Coordinator of the Academic Writing Support Office, addressed the main stages of producing a high-quality academic article for international journals. Prof. Dr. Alkan provided information about the publication policies, editorial evaluation criteria, and peer-review processes of journals indexed in Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus. He also explained, through various examples, the academic standards that should be considered when preparing a manuscript suitable for publication in such journals.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of properly structuring the research question, establishing a strong theoretical framework, selecting appropriate methodologies and data analysis techniques, discussing the findings within a coherent scientific framework, and relating the study to the international literature. In addition, key stages of the academic publishing process—such as journal selection, aligning the manuscript with the journal’s scope and editorial expectations, preparing for peer review, and developing effective revision strategies—were discussed.
