A seminar titled “The Formation of the State and Kyrgyz Intellectuals” was held at the Faculty of Communication of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. Moderated by Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gulzada Stanalieva, the event brought students together with Aida Kubatova, a researcher and historian from the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The seminar focused on the process of Kyrgyz state formation, the Jadid movement, and the historical role of Kyrgyz intellectuals.
Aida Kubatova: “Jadidism Strengthened Public Awareness”
During the seminar, Aida Kubatova spoke about the Jadid movement, which played an important role in modernization and education reforms in Central Asia. She explained that it contributed to social change, improved the education system, and supported cultural development. She also emphasized that Jadidism influenced not only education but also the development of political consciousness and public awareness.
The Role of Kyrgyz Intellectuals in State Formation
The event also examined the contributions of Kyrgyz intellectuals of the 19th and 20th centuries in shaping national identity, advancing education, and developing public administration. The roles of figures such as Eshenaly Arabaev, Jusup Abdrakhmanov, Imanaly Aydarbekov, and Abdykerim Sydykov were discussed with concrete examples. It was noted that their reformist efforts played a significant role in shaping the modern Kyrgyz state.
Aida Kubatova’s Research on Jadidism Presented to Students
As part of the seminar, Aida Kubatova’s study titled “The Jadid Movement in Kyrgyzstan (1900–1916)” was introduced. The work covers the origins of the movement, its educational activities, regional spread, and the press of that period.
Seminar Enhanced Students’ Knowledge of Kyrgyz History
It was noted that the seminar, which saw strong student participation, helped deepen their understanding of Kyrgyzstan’s recent history and enabled them to view historical events from a broader perspective.
