Summer School for Young Turkologists

The first "Summer School for Young Turkologists" was organized between June 19-25, 2023 by the International Turkic Academy, the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA), and Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.

President of the International Turkic Academy Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafaev, President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Sheker, Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Deputy Rector Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova, Vice Rectors, academicians, summer school participants and many students attended the program.

Deputy Rector of our University Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova wished success to the participants of the "Summer School for Young Turkologists." She expressed her belief that the results would benefit the Turkic World.

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University`s Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized that the Summer School for Young Turkologists program is necessary for the present day. Rector of the Manas University Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan said, "With the establishment of the Organization of Turkic States, a new way has been set in motion rapidly. This study, which Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University has organized with these two distinguished institutions, will be an important step forward for young people. We have been late in researching the Turkic World. Nevertheless, I believe today's young Turkologists will succeed. In this program, held at Manas University, very significant studies will be carried out. This is also a special achievement for the Turkic World."

President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Sheker said: “We plan such programs as events that will ensure brotherhood, unity and more importantly, reading, understanding, sharing and evaluating the works of authors with scientific values. We aim to keep our common culture alive and transfer it to future generations.”

Also President of the International Turkic Academy Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafaev said: “The aim of our summer school is to emphasize the importance of Turkology research for Turkic states, the Turkish alphabet, and to create a culture of joint work in the context of these issues. This is also the direct task of the Turkic Academy as an international organization that develops scientific cooperation between Turkic states. We hope this cooperation continues."

Among 226 young scientists working in Turkology, Turkish History, Turkish Literature, Anthropology, Cultural Studies and Archaeology, only 30 selected for the Summer School.

The summer school was attended by 28 young Turkologists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Bashkortostan (Russian Federation), Tatarstan (Russian Federation), Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The lectures will continue for a week by 11 internationally renowned scientists from Turkey and Uzbekistan.

In the program, education will be given under the titles of Turkic World Concept, History of the Turkic States, Archaeology of the Turkic World, History of Art and Thought of the Turkic World, Turkish Languages and General Features of Contemporary Turkish Languages, Turkic World Mythology and Epics and Legends of the Turkic World. At the same time, young Turkologists will organize seminars on their topics and events to promote their countries.
