Students of the Faculty of Medicine at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) came together with senior academic leaders from Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan in an online meeting. The session, which highlighted a student-centered approach to education, addressed key topics such as the quality of medical education, curriculum alignment, and international academic cooperation.
The meeting was attended by KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Rector of the University of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Aydın, Founding Rector of the University of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Cevdet Erdöl, and Rector of Aksaray University Prof. Dr. Alpay Arıbaş.
KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stated that students coming from Türkiye and continuing their education at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University quickly adapt to university life. He emphasized that the academic process extends beyond coursework, as students also integrate into a new cultural and social environment, noting that this adaptation has been highly satisfactory.
Prof.Dr. Ceylan highlighted that students efforts to learn Kyrgyz Turkish demonstrate their strong willingness to integrate into the local cultural and social context. He described this as a reflection of the university’s multicultural and inclusive educational philosophy. He also noted that students stand out both through their academic performance and their active participation in social life, becoming productive members of campus life in a short time.
"We observe that our students are not only receiving education at a faculty but are also gaining a new life experience in a brotherly geography. Their educational journey at the foothills of the Tien Shan Mountains is a highly valuable process in terms of both their professional and personal development. We are pleased to see that our students are successfully adapting to the academic environment, social life, and cultural climate here,” he said.
Rector Ceylan emphasized that, as the university administration, they mobilize all available resources to ensure that students can continue their education in the most effective and efficient way. He added that not only academic quality but also students quality of life, sense of belonging, and motivation for the future are prioritized. He further stressed that the educational environment at KTMU is designed to ensure that students feel safe, valued, and supported, which directly contributes to their success.
Curriculum Aligned with Türkiye
Rector of University of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Aydın emphasized the importance of direct communication with students, stating that such meetings contribute to improving educational processes. He announced that within the scope of academic cooperation between University of Health Sciences and KTMU, the medical curriculum has been aligned with that of 14 medical faculties in Türkiye. He noted that this alignment ensures that KTMU medical students receive education equivalent to their peers in Türkiye, supported by the same academic standards and teaching expertise, thereby maintaining a high-quality educational process.
Strong Support for Future Physicians
Rector of Aksaray University Prof. Dr. Alpay Arıbaş expressed his best wishes to KTMU medical students and stated that the ongoing educational process provides a significant opportunity for their professional development. He also thanked the academic and administrative staff contributing to this process and noted that the future achievements of these students will be a source of great pride.
Founding Rector of University of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Cevdet Erdöl described the current achievements of the KTMU Faculty of Medicine as a concrete result of years of dedicated effort and institutional cooperation. He emphasized his belief that students educated here will become well-equipped physicians, not only academically but also in terms of professional competence and human responsibility.
