The Biochemistry Laboratory is a structural unit of the Department of Biology within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The laboratory was established in 2010 on the basis of the Department of Biology with the aim of advancing priority research areas in biochemistry, physiology, and molecular biology.
The automated biochemical analyzer Perfect Mindray 400 operates on photometric, kinetic, and potentiometric measurement principles and is capable of determining, within one hour, the concentrations of 400 parameters related to proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and intermediate metabolites, as well as 240 electrolyte parameters. These indicators are measured in biological fluids, including whole blood, serum, plasma, and urine.
Through working with biomolecules and various biological objects and mastering diverse research methodologies, students develop the practical skills and professional competencies necessary for their future careers in relevant scientific fields.
The primary objective of the laboratory is to ensure that students enrolled in Bachelor’s (BS), Master’s (MSc), and Doctoral (PhD) programs in Biology and Biotechnology acquire modern laboratory research methods and actively engage in scientific research activities. Another key objective is to enhance opportunities for training competent biologists with strong laboratory skills by providing access to contemporary laboratory facilities.
The laboratory conducts both fundamental and applied research in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, and physiology, and implements research projects of the academic staff in accordance with the Department’s scientific and thematic plan.
The main research areas of the laboratory include:
Purpose of the General Biology Laboratory:
The primary objective of the laboratory is to ensure that students acquire practical skills in applying modern experimental methods and utilizing contemporary biological equipment while working with general biological specimens under laboratory conditions.
The laboratory is directly linked to a number of courses included in the academic curriculum. Practical classes in “General Botany,” “General Zoology,” and other specialized disciplines are conducted on the basis of this laboratory. The use of next-generation technologies contributes to the enhancement of students’ practical competencies in the field of biology.
Furthermore, the laboratory facilitates the development of students’ competencies in applying modern experimental techniques and working with contemporary equipment in the study of biological specimens.
The Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory is a structural unit of the Department of Biology within the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The laboratory was established in 2020 within the framework of the Department of Biology with the aim of advancing priority research areas in genetics, molecular biology, and biotechnology.
The primary objective of the laboratory is to ensure that master’s (MSc) and doctoral (PhD) students enrolled in the fields of genetics, molecular biology, and biotechnology acquire proficiency in modern laboratory research methods and actively engage in scientific research activities. The laboratory also conducts fundamental and applied research in molecular biology, genetics, and biotechnology, and supports the implementation of research projects carried out by the academic staff in accordance with the department’s scientific and thematic plan.
Main Research Areas of the Laboratory:
The Histology and Cytology Laboratory was established in 2012 under the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The laboratory conducts cellular and tissue-level studies of organs from clinically healthy animals. In specific cases, microscopic diagnostics and pathohistological examinations are performed to investigate animal pathologies of various origins, including closed injuries.
Owing to its modern and advanced equipment, research activities are carried out efficiently, ensuring high-quality results within short timeframes. Since its establishment, the laboratory staff have implemented research projects funded by KTUМ and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, the laboratory annually supports research conducted in the framework of students’ Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral (PhD) theses.
A student scientific club entitled “Histological Techniques” operates within the laboratory.
Main Objective of the Laboratory
The primary objective of the laboratory is to ensure that students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s (MSc), and Doctoral (PhD) programs in Biology acquire modern cytological and histological laboratory techniques and actively engage in research activities within a contemporary laboratory environment.
The department’s academic staff carry out research projects and prepare scientific publications using histological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical research methods.
