III International Congress on Bee Sciences

The Third International Congress on Bee Sciences, hosted by Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University on April 23-25, 2024, was held online with the participation of 65 countries.

Important institutions such as Afyon Kocatepe University, the Technology Transfer Office, Afyon Zafer Technopark, the Apiculture and Bee Products Association, and the Veterinary Medicine and Public Health Association also supported the congress.

The congress started with concert videos from Afyon Kocatepe University’s State Conservatory and Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University’s Conservatory. There was also an online bee-themed art exhibition during the congress.

Delivering the opening speech of the congress, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, pointed out the importance of organizing the congress in this country, as Kyrgyzstan is known for its unique honey. He also stated that the congress, which brings together scientists known for their work on bees and bee products, undertakes the mission of protecting the honey quality of Kyrgyzstan and transferring it to future generations.

In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan announced that nearly 300 scientists from 65 different countries participated in this year's congress and more than 150 papers would be presented. He emphasized that these papers would make valuable contributions to the beekeeping sector and the general knowledge of humanity. He also stated that this congress, organized within the scope of the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the Republic of Türkiye, stands out as a valuable event.

During the congress, academics from all over the world shared information and emphasized the importance of bees and beekeeping. It was stated that bees not only produce honey but are also indispensable for a healthy ecosystem, while beekeeping strengthens the connection with nature and promotes economic and social development, especially in rural communities. The contribution of the congress to the establishment of academic partnerships for new studies in the field of bee science was also emphasized.
